“Many of the home-decor items and furniture pieces in Gore Dean are one of a kind”. “It sounds like a Democratic presidential ticket, but Gore Dean is actually a Georgetown antiques and new home furnishings store that has just opened a branch in Mount Washington in the spot where Smith & Hawken was. The location creates a striking showroom for the high-end furniture and decorative accessories, many of which are one of a kind. As you wander through the space, don’t miss the antique jockey’s weigh-in chair from Ascot ($16,500). Co-owner Deborah Dean’s own furniture designs are also featured, like the Marbury sofa ($5,995) with matching chairs. All are made in the U.S. Not everything is so pricey. The beautiful Chelsea Bird dinnerware is $255 for a five-piece place setting. There are table and bed linens, mirrors, glassware, candles and stationery. Gore Dean also has a bridal registry” Elizabeth Large (Sun photo by Chiaki Kawajiri / April 8, 2008). 1340-D Smith Ave., Mount Washington // Open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday, noon-5 p.m. Sunday // 410-323-7470 or http://www.goredean.com.
